Do you think the Devil’s at work?

Okay I just had to post this because it just confirms the devils work. Obviously from my “Smoking” post, I’m trying to quit smoking. I have to admit…it’s HARD…but then I didn’t think it’d be easy. I did smoke three cigarettes yesterday. However, I’m trying to remain positive about that instead of letting it discourage me. My positive thought is…3 is better than the pack and a half (30+) that I was smoking. When I’m at work it’s easy not to think about smoking or want a cigarette because either I’m busy or just too lazy to go through the motions of going to smoke, so being at work is a good thing. Well I get to work this morning and I open my email and I have, not one, but TEN emails titled “FREE CIGARETTES”. Okay, so I delete all of those, no big deal. Well since 7:00 this morning EVERY time I check my email I have another one of those emails saying EXACTLY the same thing…”FREE CIGARETTES”. Is that not the devil or what? I mean I know you get junk emails everyday and sometimes you get the same email more than once, but the emails are there EVERY TIME I check my email!!  I don’t think I”ve ever gotten this particular junk email either, if I have I’ve never paid it any attention. And of course it’s doing exactly what the devil means for them to do which is making me want to smoke and think about cigarettes while I’m at work which I don’t normally do. So you see…the devil knows where to attack me. What he doesn’t know…is that I’m more determined NOT to smoke today because he’s being SO obvious! So, I’m doing alot of praying today for the strength to overcome the urges. So far…so good!

I’m finding KLOVE’s encouraging words for today very helpful today!

Let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting Him…Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promise.

Nine Years….

Nine years ago this very day Eddie and I laid eyes on each other for the first time. We’d been talking via email and phone for two weeks prior to meeting and we’d exchanged pictures…so we knew ALOT about each other before this date.  However, January 14th is the anniversary of our first date….it’s been NINE years. As most of you know it’s been a rocky nine years at times and as of July 2008 I didn’t think we’d make it to see our 8th wedding anniversary…and if we did…at least not still together!!!  But we did celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary together just 16 days ago. Some of it is due  to Eddie’s persistence, but the major reason we are still together today is God and what he’s done in my life in the past 5 months. I am learning that what I want…or think I want…and the plans that I had, don’t match the plans that God has in store for me, and he’s put alot of obstacles in my way and I’ve went through many trials in the past 5 months, and I think all of that was to lead me back to Eddie…because that’s what GOD wanted. Took me awhile to realize that, but I think I’m on the right path now. My life is in God’s hands, and I hope that His will is done in my life and that HE  is glorified through my life and my marriage.

Happy Anniversar Eddie!  I love you!

Larry Miller

I feel kinda guilty that I’ve stolen something from my sister in laws (Misty)blog…but I really don’t think she’ll mind. As many of you know, Eddie’s father passed away on January 6, 2009 VERY unexpectedly. One of Misty’s friends (Tiffany) aunt’s (Ruthie) wrote this poem in honor of Dad (Larry). It was recited at the funeral on Saturday, January 10th, and it was also on the funeral program. Misty also posted it on her website and because it is SO, SO very dear to all of us and it is a small (very small) insight into what a wonderful man Larry was…I also wanted to post it…so here it is:

“Our Larry”by Aunt Ruthie

 If you knew our Larry,

Then surely you would know,

He left memories of laughter

Everywhere he’d go.

If you knew our Larry,

Then surely you still hear,

The stories from his childhood

And the tales he loved to share.

If you knew our Larry,

Then surely you re-call,

How much he loved his family.

They made him walk so tall!

If you knew our Larry,

Then surely you would find,

He was a sweet, compassionate man,

He was loving, he was kind.

If you knew our Larry,

Then you knew Papa Bear.

A gentle man whose grandkids

Always found a lap to share.

If you knew our Larry,

Then surely you would know,

He gave his life to Jesus,

Many years ago.

And if you knew our Larry,

Then surely there are no fears,

For he’s safely home in Heaven

With no more pain, and no more tears.

We love you Papa Bear!!! RIP!

We love you Papa Bear!!! RIP!
